We have a small grocery store in a tiny little town in Kentucky, my Dad is the fourth generation in the “Mercantile” business, and the store has been his life long love. He loves the store because he loves the people that he is able to help, and the friends that he gets to visit with daily. Last year I choose to move home when my mom was having treatments for stage four cancer, (she’s since recovered, a huge blessing which we are very, very grateful for) with the move came a new outlet for me, I am the chief donut fryer and baker in our deli, and I couldn’t love it more!!! I’ve had to tweak old recipes to use our fruit and vegetables that start to over ripen, and I have found a never fail Banana bread recipe, and believe me, our mornin’ guys love it, it’s produced three marriage proposals so far! Take a chance and make this for your guy one of these Autumn nights, it will make the whole house smell like delicious, soft, moist banana bread!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease one bread pan with Pam
In Kitchen Aid Mixer (on medium) mix together:
3 ripen bananas (peeled)
1 cup of Sugar
1/2 cup of Crisco Shortening (you can use any brand if you’d like)
*mix until well blended (the shortening should be mixed into small pieces)
Add 2 cups of Self Rising Flour
Mix until well blended
Pour into bread pan and let cook for 55 minutes (may take longer/shorter time depending on how oven cooks, it’s down when lightly browned on top and knife comes out from center clean)
ENJOY! And let the proposals begin!!!
